![]() Procreate offers many ways to explore and select new colors. That person has to be thrilled.Color Disc / Classic / Harmony / Value / Palettes I enjoyed watching you work and the actual commission turned out really well. ![]() You're a major contributor in this sub, so you more than anyone should be posting up new threads promoting your latest video. I wanted to confirm the potential output of that tool. That is what I wanted to see about the pencil tool, both with the car and the background. This is a video that I will have to save and watch over and over again to see more of the details of which layer you were on when doing this or that. Since you were actually working while teaching, it was understandable that you couldn't zoom in on a lot of things beyond when you were working on the grill towards the end. I'm used to seeing people draw over the sketch, so to see you draw under it was interesting and I may have to consider that approach for myself. It's cool to see how a professional uses all of their previous work and experience to streamline a new project with stored assets. The graphic styles for this project and your previous ones was an awesome lesson. There is so much for me to learn, but being able to connect how you applied oft referred techniques will help when I officially learn how to do it. I personally liked how it wasn't overproduced and you allowed the viewer to really see your thought process with how you went about creating the project. I don't normally subscribe to channels, I just check back in on a regular basis for a new video, but I may have to subscribe to your channel. You got a lot in there for just one hour. There was a snafu around 6:56 in the video with the audio, but other than that, it was a really good video. Thanks for the shout out at the beginning of the video! Yes, I did beg you to do some process videos! :D You can see me doing this in this video I recorded recently. I've just never been an eyedropper-from-the-canvas kind of person. This is the workflow I've evolved over about twenty years of AI, it works for me. And I do mean everything, if I use it in a gradient, on text, in a symbol, whatever, it'll change. I never use the Recolor stuff, instead what I do is check the "global" checkbox in a swatch's options when I make it, then everything I draw with it will change when I play with the swatch. If I'm plucking colors from a reference image provided by a commissioner then I'll do it by using the eyedropper and hitting the 'new swatch' button but mostly I just drag to make a new one. When I need a new color I'll usually just drag from the fill swatch in that pane into the swatch area to make a new one, then double-click it and edit it. Personally I prefer to do most of my color selection via the Swatch panel, I've cleared it out in my default documents so I have to mix colors from scratch. I think the answer to your title question is "yes, both". Unfortunately, it doesn't work with Text and it can get a little wonky with gradients. ![]() I suppose that is what we should use the most. I do really like the Recolor tool though. Every single color UI should have the color dropper enabled. Second, some color UIs have a color drop tool that lets you select colors from your image and some don't. OK, I'm on the new swatch UI but there is no place to enter the HTML color code. It's annoying, but ok, let's click the "New Swatch" button. This is my least favorite sight in Adobe Illustrator. A color UI comes up that only lets me select a swatch. ![]() A few minutes ago, I wanted to change the color of a stroke in the Appearance panel. Is there some way of thinking that I am not appreciating? Are we supposed to know all our swatch colors ahead of time?įirst, it seems like there are a million different color UIs and I never know which one will pop up. I am finding it very difficult to get accustomed to using color in Adobe Illustrator.
